Ondrej Slaby (Biography)
Ondrej Slaby is a Professor of Medical Biochemistry at the the 1st Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. He works as Research Group Leader at the Department of Molecular Medicine, Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC), Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic) and as a Scientific Secretary at the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute in Brno. Prof. Slaby has published extensively in the field of non-coding RNAs and solid cancer with special focus on their translational potential in diagnostics and as the therapeutic targets (h-index 31, Sum of the times cited without auto-citations > 3500. Since 2018, prof. Slaby is a chair of Czechoslovak Biological Society. In 2010 and 2012 received Award of Czech Society for Oncology, in 2016 an Award of Czech Medical Society and 2014 and 2016 Award for Medical Research of Czech Minister of Health, Novartis Discovery Award 2017.

She got Heisenberg Fellowship from the German Research Foundation (DFG) at the Helmholtz Centre in Munich, Germany. Barbara Wollenberg worked as a C4 professor of otorhinolaryngology and head and neck surgery at the Lübeck Campus of the University Medical Centre Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. She worked Vice dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Lübeck, Germany and Review board member of the German Research Foundation (DFG). She achieved many awards like Monika Kutzner Prize for cancer research from the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW), 2001, Anton von Troeltsch Prize from the German Society of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery for "Immunological therapies for patients with cancers of the head and neck", 1999. Her main specialization is in the field of Biochemistry, immunology. Apart from this she is also an eminent Specialist in otorhinolaryngology and head and neck surgery, allergology, treatment of tumours using drugs, palliative medicine, ultrasound trainer.

Michael Retsky (PhD in Physics from University of Chicago) made a career change to cancer research thirty years ago. He was on Judah Folkman’s staff at Harvard Medical School for 12 years. Diagnosed with stage IIIc colon cancer in 1994, he opted for a low dose long term chemotherapy protocol that is now called metronomic chemotherapy. Retsky is Editor and Romano Demicheli is Co-Editor of a Springer/Nature book on breast cancer published in July 2017. Retsky is a founder of the Colon Cancer Alliance and has published more than 90 papers in physics and cancer.

Dr. Bhattacharjee did her B.Sc in Biotechnology from Bangalore University in 2006 and M.Sc in Applied Genetics from Bangalore University in 2008. She then moved to England to pursue her DPhil (Phd) in Biochemistry from Oxford University where she studied the role of Fml1 and its partner proteins Mhf1 and Mhf2 in promoting genome stability.
